Lincoln, Nebraska, is now one step closer to offering casino gambling. The Warhorse Casino project broke ground earlier this week, with the construction process of the $200 million venue now underway. On Tuesday, members of the Association and Ho-Chunk Inc. President Lance Morgan were on hand to celebrate the groundbreaking of the project. Everyone gathered at the Lincoln Race Track for the ceremonial event, with NHBPA president Garald Wollsen commenting on the historic day.

The Winnebago Tribe and the Horsemen are in partnership on this project, with the Horsemen ready to see more prize money and development in rural eras thanks to the casino. The tribe and the state will be able to benefit from economic development.
Over $300 million will be invested in the project, with 900 jobs created. In total, around $100 million in tax revenues are expected, which will help with property tax relief in the state.
Temporary Casino on the Horizon
As the casino construction gets underway, officials of the property have plans to launch a temporary casino venue. The owners will offer a temporary space with 400 slot games in just a couple of months. The smaller-scale casino will open in September and offer services until the full-scale casino is completed.
Once the permanent structure is up and running, players will have access to a larger collection of slots with 1,300 machines on offer. Table games will reach the 100 mark with a sportsbook also in place for wagering needs.

Once construction starts in Omaha, players will have to wait around 10 months before the temporary casino is operational. The smaller casino is expected to provide around 650 slot games.
